I just discovered the world of Joe Camp, master storyteller.
He started out making dog movies, in fact, he created and directed all five of the Benji movies and all of Benji's television programs. The Benji Method is a non-regulation training program that is easy and fun, without the need of an expert or a degree in animal psychology.
After his last movie, “Benji Off the Leash” didn’t do very well, he turned his attention to horses. He began to realize that something was wrong with the traditional methods of training and caring for these amazing animals.
His national best seller is “The Soul of a Horse – Life Lessons from the Herd.” The book is about what he has learned with each horse and how it transfers to humans. He shows that we should listen, teach and train with love, patience, understanding and that affection gets better results than dictation.
The sequel to that book is “Born Wild – The Soul of a Horse” is about wild horses going domestic and domestic horses going wild and about doing something good for another being. Another book “Horses & Stress” explains the rational explanations behind natural horse care. Taking care of our horses naturally reduces their stress, which Mr. Camp says fixes just about every equine problem. Some of his other books include “God Only Knows, Beginning Ground Work, Why Our Horses are Barefoot, Horses Were Born To Be On Grass, and Horses Without Grass.”
All of these books sound really interesting. I don’t know where I have been or why I haven’t noticed them before. I can’t wait to get ahold of one.
