Bugs

I am starting with the basics. Most everyone knows that a stallion is an adult male horse that has not been gelded or castrated or a horse kept for breeding, which is also known as a stud. A newborn or young male horse is referred to as a colt. Actually the word ‘’stallion” came from the time of Henry VII when uncastrated male horses had to be kept up or tied in stalls or (stalled-one).  Stallions can be difficult to own. A stallion owner must have the facilities and space to be able to care for such a formidable animal. Also time to spend on training and building a relationship based on friendship and respect. That respect that comes from everyday horse keeping, where he learns what is expected and what is not tolerated.  They must be treated with fairness and not beaten into submission. I have several friends that keep stallions. One in particular is a rancher, trainer, and breeder, Delton Jackson, who owns a black and white tobiano paint stallion that he raised from a colt. Website Upgrades

It was just 3 weeks ago that we refocused on transforming Horseman's Corner from a place to listen to Howard Hale's daily interviews to more of a well-rounded and really useful website for horsemen and horsewomen to enjoy. So far, we have archived over 3600 minutes of the best Horseman's Corner interviews of all-time and put them into one master podcast channel available on our website at horsemanscorner.com/podcast.php but that's not all... In the last 3 weeks our distribution has exploded through our acceptance onto all the major podcast channels including iTunes and Spotify! The Horseman's Corner Radio programs can also be heard on Google Podcasts, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, Spreaker, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, AgSearch.us, horsemanscorner.com, halebroadcasting.com and Airtime Pro Streaming at AgRadio.us or horsemanscorner/streaming.php and of course on more than 1/2 dozen great rural radio stations. We have finally supplemented our home page with top qual

Benefits of 'Going Virtual' with your next event

Our first fully Virtual Expo was launched for Darren and Tana Dale of Star Expos on April 8, 2020. There were numerous benefits to having an online or virtual presence long before the most recent pandemic hit. Do you agree with the following statements for the most part? A desktop computer is powerful, but not without a mouse. An iPod is powerful, but not without a menu of songs. A cell phone is powerful, but not without a touch screen. The web is powerful, but not without a browser or simple user interface. My point?  The power is in being able to control and develop the interface that brings the web to our eyes and ears... that interface is known as a website . We have been transforming real life scenarios into websites for over 20 years. This virtual world is our playground. We've built more than 1,000 websites for businesses in 26 states and 3 foreign countries. Welcome to a world where ideas are not limited by what you think is possible. I have said for a long time now that w

Saving Cowboy True 2020

We have always appreciated a challenge, especially when it comes to helping an organization or cause that we support. Well, that was the case with Cowboy True, a local arts organization that was needing help bringing it all together in this new virtual world. That's where we came in. It started when I received a referral from one of our great friends and partners, Tana Dale of Star Expos. We have worked with them for over 10 years and the experience has been all positive.  Darren and Tana own Star Expos and put on three big agricultural trade shows each year in Wichita Falls, Texas, Great Bend, Kansas and McCook, Nebraska.  In fact, we relocated to Wichita Falls after being exposed to it through the trade shows. With less than one month before the show was to begin, we were asked if we could build a Virtual Art Show that would allow both Judging, Sponsors, Full Artist Galleries and give them the ability to conduct their auction, all online, in approximately 3 weeks. I knew we would

Joe Camp's Amazing Journey

by Janice Jones, stallionsmaresandfoals@gmail.com Joe Camp, film writer, producer, director, author, passionate speaker, and the man behind the canine superstar Benji. I just discovered the world of Joe Camp, master storyteller. He started out making dog movies, in fact, he created and directed all five of the Benji movies and all of Benji's television programs.  The Benji Method is a non-regulation training program that is easy and fun, without the need of an expert or a degree in animal psychology. After his last movie, “Benji Off the Leash” didn’t do very well, he turned his attention to horses. He began to realize that something was wrong with the traditional methods of training and caring for these amazing animals.  His national best seller is “The Soul of a Horse – Life Lessons from the Herd.” The book is about what he has learned with each horse and how it transfers to humans. He shows that we should listen, teach and train with love, patience, understanding and that affecti

Welcome Janice Jones!

We want to welcome aboard our very first 'Features' contributor, Janice Jones!  Janice hails from Wichita Falls, Texas and will be writing a column called "Stallions Mares and Foals."  The 'News and Features' area of Horseman's Corner is a new addition to our lineup of an already robust vault of radio programs and podcasts. This is the first time we have decided to feature written articles on the website. We plan to invite other writers as well, but Janice is our very first. Welcome Janice by leaving her a comment below or by sending her an email! https://horsemanscorner.blogspot.com/2020/08/welcome-janice-jones.html

What is AgSearch.us?

Looking for something ag-related? Try AgSearch.us! It all started in 2004 when we started accumulating hundreds of agricultural contacts and needed a place to store them for quick access. This is the classical definition of the reason for a database with a search function, so we set out to create one under the name AgMarketOnline.com. This little-search-engine-that-could has generated over 7 million visits to those listed.  AgSearch is also based on the technology that powers our search functions on several of our sites including Horseman's Corner and Cattleman's Corner. When you list your business on agsearch.us, it gets listed on our entire family of websites wherever pertinent. In 2018, our search engine AgMarketOnline.com was re-branded as AgSearch.us, with plans to use the original domain for our future marketplace.  Auction-Corner.com completes the trio of sites that work together to help bring buyers and sellers together in a friendly, trusted environment.  Visit www.AgS

Celebrating 20+ years!

by Brian Hale,  Hale Multimedia  brianhale@consultant.com We are excited about an old website with a ton of new potential.   For over 20 years, the Horseman's Corner at horsemanscorner.com has been a great place to listen to the radio programs produced by Hall of Fame radio broadcaster Howard Hale!  After two plus decades of radio on the internet, The Horseman's Corner is ready to expand.   "We've actually talked about it many times, but with so many other projects, we just didn't have time to focus on it.  Now that we have 20 more years of exposure in the horse world, we've decided to make it a priority to upgrade the website to include feature writers, feature podcasts, horses for sale, an events calendar, PLUS all kinds of equine products and services for sale, many times direct from the manufacturer."  The new website, redesigned by Hale Multimedia, includes a newly developed Horses For Sale by Owner section that is now sortable by sex or breed, an eas

Welcome from Janice Jones

Welcome and thank you for reading my contributions on HorsemansCorner.com.  My name is Janice Jones and I am a British born Texan. Growing up on a farm in Electra, Texas I played with chickens, milked cows, made butter and helped my Granddad on his tractor. The only horse on the place was a palomino gelding named Honey. I thought he was the most beautiful horse I had ever seen and of course, he made a lasting impression on me.    Another horse didn’t come along until my daughter was about 8 years old. She wanted to learn to ride and I probably wanted that horse more than she did. Our first one was a very stout Quarter Horse with Doc Bar lineage. We called her Target, as her registered name was Bessie Pine Target and she was as wide as a barn door. As my daughter’s riding improved, we acquired a western pleasure horse named “Jacks Rum and Coke” a beautiful palomino, just like the one I remembered. His sire was “The Investor”, a well-known western pleasure horse. We were very fortunate t
